NA Pricing is looking for an actuarial analyst to help advance the pricing of Majors business specific to the Marine and Equipment Breakdown segments. In this role, you will support the Major Property & Marine business group's profit, growth, and operational objectives by performing actuarial analyses for these growing and evolving lines of business. You will be responsible for traditional actuarial rate making analysis, including rate indications and new product pricing, while also creating unique solutions to help enhance sophistication of pricing and related processes. Aiding in the conversion of existing offline rating mechanisms into more streamlined, efficient system solutions will be a focus. This position will be part of a growing team that is being dedicated to directly support the Marine & EB leaders, helping drive the strategic vision of Property & Marine pricing through partnerships with a variety of internal customers, including product, analytics, finance, reserving and systems groups. Responsibilities:

  • Directly support questions and profile analysis as needed for Marine and Equipment Breakdown leaders & teams.
  • Build deep expertise and insight into Marine and Equipment Breakdown portfolios and data.
  • Ownership of pricing models in addition to other auxiliary tools.
  • Contribute to annual Ocean Marine indication process for influencing pricing levels, expand for Inland Marine business.
  • Provide insights necessary to support the effective use of rating models & areas of opportunity.
  • Review, revamp and/or create rate change methods & processes for individual segments.
  • Directly support pricing requirements for new products and coverages, including rate filings.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to achieve business objectives and meet field demands.
  • Support product ratemaking, underwriting and analytics operations with data driven analytics.
  • Support strategic priorities of Majors P&M through impactful projects that enable Marine & EB underwriters to effectively select and price risks.
  • Develop and revises strategic and tactical plans as necessary to meet segment objectives and respond to environmental changes.
  • Identifies data requirements for analysis, tool development, reporting and decision making.Please note this posting is open to multiple locations or remote. Compensation will vary based on experience, education and location.
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience required, pricing or indication experience preferred.
    • Passing grades on a minimum of 5 Casualty Actuarial Exams is required; ACAS preferred.
    • Commitment to achieving Associate or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
    • Sound knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc. Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively express technical actuarial and statistical concepts to non-technical individualsAdvanced decision making, problem solving and analytical skillsWorking knowledge of IWE, TM1, and Smart view database applications is preferredExpands/maintains Actuarial professional knowledge through society (CAS/AAA) publications and meetings/conferencesStrong MS Office Excel, SAS, and VBA skills preferred
