Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Controller, to undertake all
aspects of financial management, including divisional accounting,
regulatory and financial reporting, budget, and forecasts
preparation, as well as development of internal control policies
and procedures for Eveden Inc. and Eveden Canada Ltd
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage all accounting operations and accounting staff, including
Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory
Accounting and Revenue Recognition
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and quarterly
financial forecasts and report variances
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in
accordance with group timetables
Support month-end and year-end close process in accordance with
group timetables
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial
reporting
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government
reporting requirements and tax filings
Coordinate and prepare work schedules for Tax Accountants, United
States & Canada, for Returns and Quarterly Estimates
Manage Payroll and HR administrations
Manage Customs Compliance and Drawback program. Coordinate US
Customs Reviews, Queries, and possible audits
Prepare Canadian Quarterly GST/HST/QST Returns & Payments
Liaise with group auditors coordinating and preparing schedules,
reviewing reconciliations, and ensuring accuracy of financial
information.
Direct contact attorneys on legal matters
Banking: Direct contact with banking relationships; Execute cash
disbursements & wire transfers for payment of expenditures in
accordance with disbursement and policies.
Insurance: Responsible for Renewals, Loss Control and Claims
filings. Ensuring best pricing, service, and coverage on
renewals
Responsible for optimizing employee benefit package (Medical,
Dental, Std, Ltd, Life & AD&D) at lower cost to company
Manage & Communicate with Lessors regarding various lease
matters.
Manage and negotiate Merchant Services Fees
Trustee/Fiduciary responsibility - Assure proper Retirement plan
(401k) compliance
Coordinate IRS or State Review and audits
Responsibility for communication with Union regarding various
employee matters
Responsibility for Union Contract Negotiations
Domestic Freight Rates Review
Manage Employee Amex Credit Card Program
Other ad hoc tasks as required by the Finance Director of the
group
Requirements
Proven working experience as a Financial Controller, preferably
with group reporting responsibility (but not essential)
5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
Advanced degree in Accounting
CPA or CMA preferred
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Experience with creating financial statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end
close process
Excellent accounting software user, spreadsheet user and
administration skills
