Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. This position is based in Westerly, RI, and involves travel to various school locations, providing essential communication access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate clear and accurate interpretation between sign language and spoken English during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities Assist students in understanding academic content and social interactions through effective translation Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to ensure an inclusive learning environment Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communication settings Adapt interpreting strategies to different age groups and educational content Desired Qualifications and Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills Experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments preferred Knowledge of deaf culture and educational accommodations Ability to travel between schools within the designated area Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Relevant certification or licensure in sign language interpreting is a plus Location and Work Environment: Based in Westerly, RI, with travel required to multiple school sites Dynamic school settings that support student growth and learning This role offers a unique chance to make a significant difference by enabling communication and learning access for students with hearing challenges.
