Job Description:
Minimum qualifications: PhD in physics, electrical engineering,
or a related engineering discipline or equivalent practical
experience. 3 years of research or industry experience. Experience
performing measurements of superconducting qubits or
superconducting digital logic circuits. Experience coding in
Python. At least one published research paper and one presentation
at a relevant scientific conference. Preferred qualifications: 7
years of research or industry experience in measurement, design, or
simulation of superconducting qubits or superconducting digital
logic. 3 years of experience leading research projects. Experience
working with dilution refrigerators or microwave engineering.
Experience in calibrating gates or other precise control of
superconducting qubits. Proficiency with Python to interface with
control electronics, execute measurements, and perform data
analysis. About the job As a Research Scientist, your primary focus
will be performing millikelvin measurements of superconducting
circuits for quantum computing which includes calibration of
superconducting qubit gates, readout, and flux pulses using both
room temperature electronics and cryogenically located electronics.
You will be in tight collaboration with qubit designers,
fabrication engineers and other measurement engineers to maximize
device performance, reduce crosstalk, improve gate fidelities, and
improve future designs devices. You will work on building a fully
integrated, modular chip stack that combines superconducting qubits
with their control electronics directly within the cryogenic
environment, accelerating the path towards error-corrected quantum
computers. The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked
with a large-scale computer capable of error-corrected
computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer
and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our
roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum
computing and enabling meaningful applications. The US base salary
range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 bonus equity
benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and
location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work
location and additional factors, including job-related skills,
experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can
share more about the specific salary range for your preferred
location during the hiring process. Please note that the
compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base
salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn
more about benefits at Google . Responsibilities Calibrate and
characterize superconducting qubits and mixed signal circuits
including transmon, fluxonium, or single flux quantum (SFQ)
superconducting circuits. Build and maintain software related to
the control and analysis of these superconducting circuits. Design
novel control schemes to calibrate qubits and interface with novel
superconducting electronics. Partner with design, fabrication, and
measurement teams to validate fully integrated quantum processors.
Author high-quality research papers and present findings at leading
scientific conferences to advance the state-of-the-art and enhance
publicity.
