Job SummaryUniversity Disability Resources provides leadership
to University efforts to ensure an accessible, inclusive welcoming
learning and working environment for individuals with disabilities
while complying with federal and state regulations.UDR serves as a
central resource on disability-related information, procedures and
services for the University community and provides expertise in the
development, implementation, and acquisition of best and promising
disability-related University practices, procedures and
resources.Job-Specific ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:---
Serves as the senior disability officer for the University who
integrates research and evidence-based practice to guide, develop,
enhance, and implement a foundational framework for compliance with
the ADA, Rehabilitation Act and other related federal and state
accessibility regulations.--- Concurrently, serves as the
pro-active thought leader and a collaborator to identify
opportunities beyond regulatory compliance for best/promising
disability inclusionary practices.--- Identifies and forms
collaborative partnerships and allies to expand inclusionary best
disability practices including other intersections.--- Promotes an
inclusionary vision to raise campus awareness by reducing systemic
barriers to improve disability inclusion and the adoption of
universal design as a framework. --- Strategically identifies
opportunities to expand accessibility/inclusionary measures from
simple implementation to long range complex planning.--- Serves to
represent disability as an element of diversity on the Diversity,
Inclusion, and Belonging Council for the University.--- Works with
all Schools and departments to foster and guide strong
institutional commitment to collaborate on disability-related
matters among key administrative personnel.--- Consults to address
specific individual requests and accessibility concerns whether it
be faculty, students, staff, visitors, or local community
members.--- Serves as the University---s 504 Coordinator for all
student disability-related discrimination complaints under the
Rehabilitation Act and the ADA. --- Researches & maintains currency
on best/promising practices.Basic Qualifications--- Master---s
degree or equivalent work experience required--- Minimum of 10
years--- relevant experience, including advanced knowledge and
application of federal and state laws, regulations and guidelines,
including ADA, Rehabilitation Act and other related federal and
state accessibility regulations.--- Supervisory
experience.Additional Qualifications and Skills--- Subject Matter
expert with federal and state accessibility regulations along with
best/promising practices across practice areas including but not
limited to transportation, real estate, facilities, individual
requests, and the digital environment.--- Familiarity with a broad
range of disabilities.--- Foundational knowledge to apply equity,
diversity and inclusion framework across intersections and best
practices.--- Effective project management skills w/ the ability to
manage multiple ongoing and/or new projects and activities in
accordance with goals, best practices, and laws and regulations.---
Innovative problem solver and innovator.--- Facilitates the
development of compliant accessibility responses to barriers while
allowing for flexibility to address the unique characteristics of
each autonomous entity in Harvard. --- Ability to work with a wide
diversity of stakeholders (internal and external) from a multitude
of backgrounds, beliefs, and identities.--- Ability to work
independently and as part of a team.--- Proven supervisory track
record to support and develop direct reports.--- Facilitates the
maintenance and development of a cohesive team.--- Ability to
identify opportunities to create foundational customary compliance
responses for access to inclusion practices depending on the
particular situation.--- Ability to exercise independent judgment
to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet desired
outcomes.--- Able handle sensitive matters with discretion, tact
and confidentiality.--- Excellent communication, interpersonal and
organizational skills.--- A life-long learner.Additional
