Location...Location...Location:The Holiday Inn Boston Bunker Hill is seeking the right hospitality professional for the position of Director of Operations. Our 184 room full service Boston Area Hotel located in Somerville, Massachusetts. We are less than one mile from the City of Boston just 1.6 miles from Encore Casino and surrounded by rich history and landmarks. Our location is ideal for tourists, corporate travelers and families alike! The hotel is nestled between some of Bostons best known colleges and universities and global corporations.The Role:The Director of Operations is a critical position to the success of the Holiday Inn Boston-Bunker Hill. In this role, you will be responsible for all facets of the rooms department (front office, transportation services, housekeeping, night audit, DRAFT Restuarant and recreation/pool) operation including but not limited to the guest experience, managing the team for success, overall cleanliness and upkeep of the property, scheduling, payroll, coaching, and responding to guest service feedback.What you will be doing:


  • Understanding employee and guest satisfaction results and communicates game plans to address need areas and expand on the strengths.
  • Assists in ensuring that the team has the capabilities to meet expectations.
  • Leads by example demonstrating self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm.
  • Assists employees in understanding guests ever-changing needs and expectations, and exceeding them.
  • Takes proactive approaches when dealing with employee concerns; extends professionalism and courtesy to employees at all times.
  • Communicates/updates all goals and results with employees.
  • Assists/teaches the team scheduling against guest and hours/occupied rooms department goals.
  • Performs hourly job functions as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable for all guests.
  • Takes proactive approaches when dealing with guest concerns.
  • Extends professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.
  • Responds timely to customer service department request.
  • Ensures all team members meet or exceed all hospitality requirements - including brand training.
  • Assists in performing required annual Quality Audit with GM.
  • Acts as a liaison to every department within the hotel to communicate the current room availability through annual, monthly, fourteen day, and last day sellout forecasts.
  • Ensures a viable key control program is in place.
  • Understands financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data.
  • Works closely with the Director of Human Resources in recruiting, interviewing and on-boarding team members..
  • Actively participates in the revenue management process and decision making.
  • Performs accounting functions as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by General Manager.
  • Prior IHG /Opera PMS experience a plus.
    Qualifications:Education:High School diploma required. Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in related field (i.e.: Hotel Management, Business Management) preferred.Experience:

    • Minimum of (3) years hotel/resort experience.
    • Minimum of (3) years hands on experience with rooms division operations
    • Additional experience in food & beverage preferred
    • Hotel Specific Property Management System experience preferred
