Associate Director Research Project Manager
In Bayers Pharmaceuticals division, we focus on researching,
developing, and marketing specialty-focused innovative medicines
that provide significant clinical benefit and value, primarily in
the therapeutic areas of cardiology, oncology, gynecology,
hematology and ophthalmology. With our innovative products, we seek

satisfying the growing requirements of physicians and health
insurers. As one of the leading research-based pharmaceutical
companies worldwide, we have nearly 50 ongoing development projects
in clinical trials.
The Project Manager (PM) is responsible to manage the execution of
several preclinical research projects according to defined criteria
under the strategic leadership of a Scientific Project Leader
(SPL). The PM may lead defined workstreams in the respective
project and supports the establishment of the overall project
strategy. The PM supports the Research TAs and management regarding
portfolio decisions, facilitates governance committees, and
provides oversight of project and portfolio resource spending and
of other strategically relevant data. The PM is responsible to
support the development, implementation, and maintenance of project
and portfolio management systems and quality assurance of key
project data.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Director
Research Project Manager are to:
Prepare, track and adjust a multi-year project plan, detailing
timelines and budget for up to 10 projects between start and entry
in development as well as develop a timeline and/or
resource-optimized scenarios and align activities in close
interaction with other functions accordingly;Support the Scientific
Project Leader (SPL) in setting up the (operational) project goals
and in servicing preclinical governance with continuous oversight
of project status as well as in providing an environment to
facilitate the development of high performing teams;Be part of the
core team (at least as of start lead optimization) and lead
project-related activities and meetings in alignment with the SPL
as well as maintain project file storage and prepare agenda and
meeting notes for project team meetings;Identify and anticipate
issues, e.g. related to project progression, technical challenges,
or budget as well as document project progress and status and
ensure consistency, correctness, and completeness of project
information in the relevant reporting systems;Establish and track
project budget and resources (internal or external), be responsible
for the quality of the forecasting and management of the budget as
well as work closely together with Controlling (forecasting and
budget), Procurement (sourcing to CROs and academic labs), Legal
(contracting) and other stakeholders in R&D and beyond;Review
proposals for project team compositions and suggest changes as well
as ensure sufficient and timely flow of information within the
project team and build relationships in-and outside of the project
team to enhance effective communication;Support the development,
implementation, and maintenance of project and portfolio management
systems and the quality assurance of key project data;Be
responsible seek for process optimization, implementation and
compliance and drive communication, knowledge transfer and
collaboration within Research and with its stakeholders.

incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
M.D/Ph.D. in life sciences or equivalent scientific
background;Experience in some of the key project-related functions
(e.g. Research, Translational Sciences, Clinical Development, CMC)
and profound knowledge of the drug discovery process;Experience as
cross-functional project leader (m/f/d);Strong interpersonal and
stakeholder management skills with a collaborative
mindset;Excellent communication skills and networking abilities
with external and internal stakeholders as well as with people at
all levels of the organization;Strong personal drive and curiosity
to explore and implement new ways of working;Willingness to embrace
change and the ability to effectively work in an international and
multicultural environment;Fluent in English, both verbal and
written.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least eight years of relevant professional and or academic
experience including a pharmaceutical industry R&D track
record;Fluent in German, both verbal and written.
