Reporting to the VP of Finance and Admin Systems, The Director of Financial Planning and Analytic Systems, in conjunction with the operational and functional governance committee(s), will design and develop the vision, strategy and approach for the finance and administrative applications, tools, processes, and functions. They will work closely with the business sponsors to evaluate priorities and set strategy for future application direction. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage the Budget, Financial Planning, Decision Support/Cost Accounting, and other reporting/analytic platforms, applications, and tools, including, but not limited to, Hyperion, IBM Cognos Planning, Strata EPSi and related tools and infrastructure.
  • As other applications and tools are identified or acquired that fall into the category of financial and administrative applications, they may be added to the portfolio of applications managed by this role and team.
  • Manage the development and submission of data extracts mandated by government and regulatory organizations including the Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) and the Massachusetts Center for Health and Information Analyses (CHIA) and requested by various quality organizations.
    • Liaison between external organizations and MGB
    • Actively participate on external committees
    • Oversee the successful submission of data
    • Create and develop the governing and management policies, procedures, and processes for implementing, deploying, managing, and supporting the associated functions, applications, and tools.
    • Oversee the processes and resources needed to manage and support of all the platforms, applications and tools related to financial, administrative, and related functions. This position will work closely with resource managers within the larger team to secure additional resources needed to support the applications.
    • Manage the pipeline of new demand, balancing resources, dependencies, budget and risk accordingly. Lead technology evaluations to meet new demand and onboard new technologies as required
    • Provide on-going project status reports to internal Digital management, user groups and Executive steering committees.
    • Keep current and up to date on technology and configuration for all relevant and related systems.
    • Assign/delegate project assignments as appropriate. Provide project-specific direction and guidance to project team members to facilitate timely and quality results. Monitor quality of work performed by team members throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Provide quality customer service and serve as an exemplary representative of Mass General Brigham Information Systems; on-going communication, feedback, and follow-through with business owners, stakeholders, user community, direct reports, managers, and peers are essential.
    • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Department Management. Qualifications
      • Master's degree desired, but not required in lieu of equivalent experience.
      • Ten or more years of relevant experience in managing information systems in healthcare organizations. Prior information systems leadership experienced preferred.
      • Experience in healthcare related budgeting, planning and decision support systems such as TSI, Strata EPSi/Jazz or Synyellis is highly desired. Skills, Abilities and Competencies

              • Experience managing large operating and capital budgets.
              • Adept at working in a highly matrixed organization. Supervisory Responsibilities and Fiscal Responsibility
                • Supervises several managers and staff.
                • 8 - 12 FTEs supervised
                • Manages the capital and operating budgets for the applications, platforms or services.
                • Responsible for managing a budget amount of $2.0 - $2.5 million dollars. Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
                  • This position is hybrid and requires some onsite working days as Assembly Row or Local MGB Sites, either weekly or occasional travel to MGB sites, vendors, and/or conferences
                  • The Hybrid working model can be flexible, i.e. 1 day per week onsite or multiple days per month or quarter, as business need requires, candidate must be flexible to consider business needs as onsite work could fluctuate
                    • Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and mask.
                    • Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
                    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
