DescriptionThis position provides assistance in support of research
activities under supervision of the Principal Investigator. -The
Center for Health Equity Research within the Department of Medicine
is seeking a motivated individual interested in issues of health
equity for a Research Assistant position. The Program conducts
health services and policy-oriented research in health disparities,
improving processes of care for sexual and gender minority (SGM)
populations, and policy research addressing social determinants of
health. Faculty members in the Program include Dr. Karen Freund,
Dr. Elena Byhoff and Dr. Amy LeClair.Please include a cover letter
with application.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS:Responsible for data collection and ensuring that all
data is collected in a timely fashion, which includes identifying
missing data and implementing data checks, as well as generation of
reports.Performs tasks which may require familiarity with a variety
of protocols, techniques and equipment.May perform literature
searches either relevant to the project(s), else in pursuit of new
techniques/ideas to expand relevant basic knowledge.May be
responsible for scheduling meetings or study visits, as well as
calendar maintenance. Logs work performed.May assist with the
collection, storage, and shipping of biological samples.May
maintain and update records in accordance with IRB/WIRB and sponsor
requirements.Assists with preparation of abstracts, presentations,
and publications as needed. -May train other research assistants,
volunteers, or students.Attends meetings as required.Maintains
collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in
order to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement
of goals, and to help foster a positive work environmentPerforms
other similar and related duties as required or
directed.QualificationsJOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:Ability to perform
data entry and retrieval ---Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office
(Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required and the ability to
learn new software as neededKnowledge of database managementAbility
to prioritize quickly and appropriatelyExcellent communication and
interpersonal skillsCare in organization and systematic
record-keepingEDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree, or
equivalentEXPERIENCE:2 - 5 -years experience in a research related
fieldPreferred 2 years' research experience, including increasing -
- - - - - responsibilities, -preferably -in an academic, research
or medical setting. Graduate - coursework or prior research
experience preferred. Prior coursework in biostatistics,
epidemiology or other research methods a plus.An equivalent
combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency
in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for
the above education and experience requirements.WORKING
