The Chemical Dependency Professional/Therapist are responsible for
managing a caseload of clients and providing sound, therapeutic
treatment during day-to-day operations. Provides inspiration and
motivation for recovery by using evidence based and person-centered
practices. Schedule / Hours : Full Time / 40 hours 8:00 am - 4:30
pm, Monday through Friday, every other weekend Tasks /
Responsibilities (To include, but not limited to) : Assess client’s
strengths, needs, abilities and preferences; formulates a
diagnostic impression based on current DSM criteria; and in
conjunction with the client/family develops a workable plan for
treatment. Develop a comprehensive case conceptualization and
present information to members of clinical team, on client’s family
and biopsychosocial background pertinent to diagnosis and
treatment. Participates in treatment team meetings to coordinate
delivery of services. Complete biopsychosocial assessment, progress
notes, treatment plans, and other chart related documents and
correspondence for assigned clients in a timely manner. Provide
individual counseling and facilitate educational and counseling
groups assigned and promptly chart these activities in the client’s
records. Select approach to use in individual therapy such as
directive, nondirective, and supportive therapy and plans
frequency, intensity, and duration of therapy. Provide skill
building psycho-educational and/or support groups. Work
cooperatively with other community resources and referral sources
to coordinate services to clients. Strive to increase professional
growth and effectiveness through training, participating in
clinical consultation, seeking outside support and by keeping
abreast of current trends and theories in relevant areas. Provide
direct behavioral health services including mental health and
substance abuse services (i.e., psycho/social assessments,
consultation, individual/group/ family therapy, professional
in-service training and community education services, etc.) at a
rate that achieves or exceeds the minimum direct service standard
as established annually. Provides crisis intervention services when
authorized and necessary. Participates in 24-hour Emergency
Services, which includes availability for back-up rotation coverage
for after hours, weekends, or holiday emergencies. Carry out other
responsibilities as delegated. Maintain professional standards and
follows the policies and procedures of the organization to include
all federal, state, and local regulations. Requirements: Skills,
Knowledge, and Abilities : An acute understanding of counseling and
other treatment procedures for behavioral health, substance use
disorder and related illnesses. A knowledge of state and federal
regulations concerning the treatment of behavioral health and
substance use disorder. In depth understanding of co-occurring
mental health disorders and their appropriate
treatments/interventions. Manages a team and has strong
interpersonal skills. Demonstrates strong problem-solving and
analytical skills. Able to work independently. Communicates
effectively (both written and verbal) with customers and
colleagues. Organized, detail-oriented, multi-tasker, adaptable,
positive. Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft
Office Suite. Environmental/Physical Requirements :
Office/Sedentary Requirements – Incumbent must be able to perform
the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in
an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for
extended periods of time (66% each day), ability to hear the
telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require
the ability to lift up to 10 pounds. Exposure to clients infected
with Hepatitis B, HIV, TB, or other Infectious Diseases. Preferred
Experience/ Minimum Qualifications : To perform this position
successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty and

required: Ability to perform the core functions of a chemical
dependency professional. Ability to develop rapport with
substance-abusing populations and families. Ability to apply
organizational management skills and maintain self and client
discipline. Ability to prepare and maintain required documentation.
Ability to comply with internal, local, state and federal
regulations and policies. Ability to work and communicate with
others. Education / Experience : Bachelor’s in counseling,
Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field
required Active state licensure as one of the following: PDAC,
CDAC, LCDP, LMHC-A, LCSW. Minimum of one (1) year of clinical
experience in a behavioral health or substance use treatment
setting. Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal regulations
related to substance abuse treatment. Must be familiar with 12 Step
Recovery programs Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records Licenses
/ Certifications : Pursuit of chemical dependency
certification/licensure preferred.
