FinanceCambridge, MA --- ID: 9R-144 --- Full-Time/RegularAkebia Therapeutics, Inc., is looking for an experienced Director External Reporting and Technical Accounting who is an enthusiastic, strong leader. The Director External Reporting and Technical Accounting will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will be responsible for all aspects of SEC reporting including the coordination and preparation of the 10Qs, 10-K, Earnings Press Release, and other ad hoc filings as well as technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards and complex accounting transactions.Required SkillsAbility to learn and understand the Akebia business to add value to the External Reporting Processes.Drive and manage the external reporting function to ensure the accurate and timely filing of the Company---s SEC reporting requirements preparation of the documents, includes but not limited to Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8---K as well as the financial portion of the proxy statementpreparation of all supporting documentationmanaging the internal and external review of the documents requiring interfacing effectively with numerous individuals including external auditors and legal counselcoordinating, reviewing and collecting comments on various draftscoordinating and overseeing Disclosure Committee meetingsreview and approval of XBRL tagging of financial statements and footnotesfiling of the documents with the SECPrepare quarterly earnings release financials and related disclosure and coordinate with Investor Relations for all draft versionsOversee all technical accounting areas including but not limited to lease accounting, debit, intangibles and goodwillMonitor the development and applicability of emerging accounting and reporting rules being deliberated by the SEC, U.S. GAAP, PCAOB, or other regulationsPerform technical accounting research as needed and prepare memos documenting conclusions and proper accounting treatment. Interact with external auditors with respect to accounting conclusions reachedOversee the preparation and review of quarterly collaboration revenueCollaborate with Business Development, Legal and Tax on business transactions.Research, interpret and implement accounting guidance to ensure compliance with all U.S. GAAP and disclosure requirementsOversee the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP disclosure checklists and any other relevant reporting questionnairesAssist in the preparation of audit schedules for quarterly reviews and annual auditMaintain external reporting calendarContinuously work to enhance and streamline reporting processes and controlsEnsure compliance with SOX 404 by maintaining and executing effective internal controls over financial reportingEducate internal staff and promote awareness of how accounting rules and regulations impact their day to day work.Preparation of quarterly Audit Committee packageRequired ExperienceBasic Qualifications:Bachelor---s degree in accounting or financeCertified Public Accountant (CPA)8years of progressive accounting experience including 3 years of SEC reporting experience either within a public company or audits of public companiesSupervisory experiencePreferred Qualifications:Big 4 experience strongly preferredExperience with Workiva strongly preferredExperience with Oracle Cloud/Fusion preferredComprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointThorough, comprehensive and current understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting principles, and SEC regulatory requirementsExcellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact and build relationships across all levels of the organization.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions.Highly detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and proactive.Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.Maintain confidentiality over all finance and accounting matters and informationAkebia Therapeutics, Inc. is a fully integrated biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of therapeutics for people living with kidney disease.
