DescriptionThe primary role of this position is to discover, design, develop, test, deploy and support existing and new applications related to the Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR). The Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR) is a centralized clinical data registry, or data warehouse, that gathers clinical information from various Mass General Brigham hospital systems. An online Query Tool allows researchers to explore clinical data through a self-service system in order to: Assess clinical study feasibility; Identify patients for clinical trials; Investigate hospital operations and patient care; Provide identified patient data with approved IRB protocol; Find control patients for previously defined populations; Search clinical notes for specific text terms and phrases in order to identify patient cohorts who have notes/reports that contain the searched text.; Query for patients with blood samples in the Mass General Brigham Biobank; Supply a workbench that allows viewing and download access for MGH and BWH Radiology imagesThe RPDR ensures the security of patient information by controlling and auditing the distribution of patient data within the guidelines of the IRB and with the use of several built-in, automated security measures. The online search in real time results in a faster data turnaround with extensive specificity of patient criteria.The successful applicant will need to take over an existing code-base and, from there, will (a) provide technical support for ongoing work, (b) enhancements of the code base, (c) applying the existing code base to the development of entirely new functionality; and (d) in the future convert/create new development with industry latest technology. This will include in developing technical specifications based on requirements, identifying implementation options for the system, selecting the optimal implementation option with the input of the collaborative team, independently building the software solution, documenting the software implementation, and testing the software solution.The Software Engineer will work closely with the project manager, business analysts, software developers, and testers to ensure specifications, coding, testing, deploying, support and documentation of systems adhere to MGB (formerly known as PHS) and industry standards and practices.Principal Duties and Responsibilities --- Designs, codes, tests, debugs, deploys, and supports the software. --- Actively contributes to continual improvement by suggesting enhancements to the user interface, software architecture, or new technologies --- Translates designs and style guides into functional UI/UX --- Has a thorough understanding of secure application development, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deploying, supporting, and project life cycle methodologies. --- Writes technical design documents. --- Provides technical support of all the group's applications as needed. --- Provides support for the existing solutions and new development. --- Performs all other duties as required.Qualifications Qualifications--- 8 years in information technology with at least 2 years developing healthcare applications.--- 5 years experience with web application development, preferably ASP.NET--- 5+ years experience with .NET C# programming or object-oriented language with proficiency to learn a necessary language for product development.--- 3-5 years of experience with relational databases and/or enterprise data warehouses such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostGres, or cloud based solution--- Experience with any of the following is a plus: .NET, Web services, SOAP, XML, XSLT, REST API, Microservices, and SQL.--- Experience with Agile, Scrum software development methodologies.--- Bachelors Degree preferred.Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required--- Excellent communication skills - both oral and written. --- Require excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical staff at all levels of the organization.--- Self-starter.
