The actual internal level/grade for this role will depend on the candidate's overall experience and skill level.About the role:This role is good for candidates who like to think about abstract patterns and want to write software for and contribute to products that solve common problems application teams handle when migrating to and working in the public cloud. Many of our forward-looking innovations address common cloud problems related to resource visibility, security, cost and performance optimization, as well as resiliency, and will help bring insight to developers by surfacing tools and data when and where they need them. We're looking for engineers who have a perspective on the problems application teams face when working in the cloud and who have a desire to make development and management of cloud resource easier from DevOps to application lifecycle management.We encourage you to apply and bring your expertise if you're a:Technical problem solver: Going far beyond simply developing error-free source code, test scripts, components and system architectures, you'll document and build deployment guides aimed at maintaining robust, relevant softwareCustomer-centric engineer: Putting clients' needs first, you'll translate customer requirements into technical applications and support the implementation of new softwareMotivated mentor: Exercise your technical chops while coaching and collaborating with junior software engineers.Forward thinker: Merely fixing a problem isn't enough - using your proactive mindset and initiative, you'll also identify opportunities to enhance performance, quality, and efficiencyBasic Qualifications:Generally, 7+ years of software engineering experienceProgramming: Java, python/typescript on an enterprise application writing production quality codeFrameworks: angular, react, or vue.js, experience with testing frameworksArchitectures: Familiarity with serverless or microservice architecture patternsExperience with API development or API development patterns.Experience with CI/CD patterns in tools like Atlassian Bamboo / Azure DevOps / Jenkins / TFS and experience with common code management software such git or svn.Cloud: experience working with either AWS or Azure, and possess the desire to learn complementary aspects and common traits across cloud platformsStrong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills.Proficient in negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.Openness and adaptability to fast-moving circumstancesExtensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies and technical standards, security, and privacy policies.Extensive knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes.Strong background in business operations and strategies, including global technology and financial services trendsHands-on involvement with layered systems architectures, designs and shared software conceptsFamiliarity with functional and system integration testingSkillsExcellent negotiation, facilitation and consensus-building capabilitiesOpenness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstancesProficiency in multiple object-oriented programming languages and toolsExcellent oral and written communication skillsAptitude for working in teamsKnowledgeIn-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies, architectural concepts and principlesA deep understanding of layered solutions and designsAwareness of policies regarding security and privacyUnderstanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics and incremental deliveryEducationA Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experiencePreferred:Any one or more of the following:Experience working with structured and unstructured data, and implementing solutions to curate and leverage data for automated decision-makingExperience working with AWS Lex, Microsoft Luis, SageMaker, Azure ML, NoSQL databases or graph data structures, or software used for RPA, CRPA or UI automations (e.g., Blue Prism or similar automation like Selenium)Experience writing software to visualize or analyze data using packages such as D3.js, NumPy, pandas, NetworkX, or similarAt Liberty Mutual, our purpose is to help people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow.
