JobSummarySoon to be part of the newly announced Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University, the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative has developed resources that aim to elevate the art and science of city leadership. As interest in city leadership development is growing in countries and regions globally, more mayors and city leaders have the opportunity to learn from the Initiative by using its library of city leadership-related teaching cases and other learning materials, faculty research, and tools designed to educate city officials on leadership, management, problem-solving capabilities, use of data and evidence, innovation, negotiation, and other topics critical to leading cities. We aim to inspire others to join the effort, raise performance in the field, and share their experiences and lessons learned as part of a community of learning.Job-SpecificResponsibilitiesReporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Program Director for Collaborations and Learning Community will serve on the Center's senior leadership team, and will lead a new, entrepreneurial unit that will work with a network of collaborators in the city leadership space, transfer knowledge to peer organizations, and share Bloomberg Harvard practices, curriculum, and research. The position will play a critical role in sharing and collaborating across Harvard to foster the cross-fertilization of ideas and learning.Develop, implement, and execute strategy to equip other institutions, city support organizations, and educators to leverage the Initiative's assets in their work or programs with city leaders.Establish programming and provide advisement to familiarize organizations with adaptable, transferable, Initiative-produced materials, and training on how to use Bloomberg Harvard cases, instructional materials, tools and educator guides in their programs.Forge collaborations with centers, institutions, and entities within and beyond Harvard to further the Center's objective of serving as a hub of world-class programs, teaching, and research on cities, and a vibrant community that brings together faculty, students, and expertise from around Harvard to engage in continuous interaction with practice.Establish a community of learning with peer initiatives to share lessons and insight. Ensure the Initiative can learn from peer programs around the world, and translate learning back into Bloomberg Harvard training, curricula, and support offerings.Create opportunities to advance the cross-fertilization of ideas and learning across Harvard.Host convenings and forums with faculty, funders, and program leaders to share information and advance knowledge.Serve as a point with the donor in collaborations that leverage Bloomberg Harvard materials and assets. Build and develop a high-performing team.Basic QualificationsA minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience and an advanced degree (e.g. MPP/MPA, MBA, PhD) in a relevant field of academic study.AdditionalQualificationsand SkillsEntrepreneurial ability to lead a start-up enterprise in a complex stakeholder environmentDemonstrated understanding of Executive Education, academic research, and governance and decision-making in a university environment.Proven experience with the practice of public policy and management.Strong skill in forging and fostering collaborations, particularly within or across colleges, universities, and foundations.Strong team-builder with an ability to build productive relationships and lead work across all levels of a diverse organization.Strong program and project management experience with skill in managing multiple diverse activities simultaneously, delivering on commitments, and operating with speed, accuracy, and strong judgment.An enthusiasm for rolling up their sleeves to do whatever it takes to get work done.An ability to drive to big picture goals while maintaining strong attention to detail.Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information simply and effectively.Previous experience working in city government or with city leadership is a plus.
