Job Description:

Job Description Job Name: Electrical Engineer Job Location: Somerville, MA Type: Engineering Job Summary: We have an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer to join our EE team. This role will work closely with other electrical and firmware engineers to help bring our technology out of the lab and into the undersea world. While our aluminum-water chemistry is designed to replace relatively simple batteries, our power modules are much more complex and contain a variety of electrical systems including DC/DC power conversion, embedded computing, motor control, mechanical actuation, high accuracy instrumentation, and autonomous capabilities. Our electronics are designed for high performance and reliability even while operating in the extreme pressure and temperature of the deep-sea environment. Its crucial that our electrical systems work flawlessly during every single discharge so that the full capability of this game-changing electrochemistry can be realized.

This position will have a strong focus on field testing at offsite testing locations include hydrostatic pressure chamber facilities and outdoor locations (i.e., at sea testing or testing in lakes and ponds). In this role, you will be responsible for test planning, setup, execution, and takedown, with a system-level focus from an electrical perspective. In addition to a focus on field testing, there will be some opportunity for circuit design and PCB testing, bringup, and debug. The job is very hands-on, so an eagerness to roll up your sleeves and dive into the hardware is necessary. And because our electrical systems interact directly with many other parts of the power module, you should be comfortable with cross-disciplinary concepts in the areas of mechanical and systems engineering.

Responsibilities: Design, coordinate, and execute tests of our Al-H2O power systems, both in lab and in the field Work closely with other members of the OWP team from different disciplines (mechanical, electrochemical) in test planning and execution Design, modify and test PCBs to verify performance, and debug boards on the bench as necessary Participate in electrical design reviews Evaluate promising components and approaches for future use in OWP electrical systems

Desired Qualifications: Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar) with 1-3 years related experience Experience with test planning and execution Hands-on, multidisciplinary experience with complex electrical, mechanical, and firmware/software systems Experience using Altium Designer (or similar) Experience with populating, testing, and debugging PCBs Experience with using lab equipment such as scopes, multimeters, power supplies, and electronic loads Candidate must be a US citizen or green card holder

US Security Clearance Required: None Schedule: Full-time Shift: Day - 1st (flexibility required) Travel: Minimal Organization: Division of Maritime Sensor Systems Job Level: Individual Contributor
