Responsibilities: 1. Leads and implements central
orientation and annual competency programs for medical assistants.
2. Maintains and revises orientation and annual competency content
to reflect changes in practice and policies. 3. In collaboration
with the clinical manager, performs ongoing evaluation of medical
assistants including progress in orientation and annual competency
evaluation. 4. Maintains orientation and annual competency
documentation as required by the Joint Commission, DPH and other
regulatory agencies. 5. Validate orientation and ongoing competency
assessment of medical assistants including but not limited to: a.
Vital signs (pulse, temperature, respiration, blood pressure) b.
Waive testing c. Phlebotomy d. EKG e. Body mechanics f. Pulse
Oximetry 6. Validate competency for staff related to AHA Basic Life
Support for Healthcare Providers. 7. Under the direction of the
clinical manager, coordinates AHA Basic Life Support Program
including the online AHA program, record keeping, equipment, and
tracking individual certification. 8. Assists with coordination of
team training provided by the central ambulatory team. 9. Validates
team training competencies of unlicensed staff by completing team
observations. 10. Participates in the development of workflows and
competencies required for medical home transformation. 11.
Identifies the unique needs and implements appropriate
interventions for the age specific categories of: a. Neonate b.
Pediatric c. Adolescent d. Adult (18-59) e. Geriatric (60+) 12.
Integrates growth and development needs into the delivery of
patient care to the populations served. 13. Uses communication
methods appropriate for the patient developmental stage. 14.
Accurately evaluates the patient's ability to follow directions for
completion of treatment. 15. Identifies and manages any special
issues, concerns and risks for age specific populations. 16.
Performs other duties as required
Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion and graduation from a Medical Assistant
Training program. Minimum 2 years of full-time medical assistant
experience in a hospital based clinic or doctor's office. AAMA,
NCMA or AMT Medical Assistant Certification required within 6
months of employment. Previous experience training and/or
developing employee training programs and competencies preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy, waive testing, advanced
computer skills, Microsoft office & Google Workspace.
