We foster an inclusive, collaborative workplace, in which our global teams are united by an unwavering commitment to deliver Better Health and a Brighter Future to people around the world.Here, you will be a vital contributor to our inspiring, bold missionOBJECTIVES/PURPOSEAnalyzing and interpreting high dimensional molecular data for the development of GI TherapeuticsIdentifying and developing sophisticated computational biology approaches to identify targets and provide translational medicine hypotheses.Generate data insights to drive GI projects, Interface with research teams and support the data analysis and interpretation needs of GI projectsDrive collaborations with internal groups, external partners, including CROs and academia for data analysis and machine learning.ACCOUNTABILITIESSupport GI discovery teams to identify novel drug targets and achieve translational medicine objectives using sophisticated computational biology techniques.Interact closely with biologists in the GI DDU to design experimental studies, plan analyses, data integration and data interpretation.Identify, build, and use bioinformatic pipelines to process and QC other omics data types including genomics, transcriptomics, single cell sequencing.Interpret preclinical and clinical datasets using appropriate statistical methods.Create visualizations, interpret high dimensional data and explain results to cross-functional teams.Perform integrative analyses with multi-omics datasets, identifying novel targets and achieving translational medicine goals.Develop machine learning algorithms, including deep neural network algorithms.Independently conduct data analysis tasks within a project scope, exercising judgement to evaluate a variety of statistical factors.Independently keep abreast of current literature computational biology for drug development.Maintain and share code.Plan and coordinate computational biology activities internally and in partnership with external CROs and academic partners, including complex projects requiring multiple members of the team and organization.Prepare and present comprehensive scientific reports to a full range of internal and external audiences.Work collaboratively with data scientists and data engineering groups to enhance our computational infrastructure, user interface, query and visualization capabilities.Process, QC and analyze microbiome datasets (16S and shotgun metagenomics)EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLSPhD degree with Post Doc experience, or equivalent.or Master's degree in a scientific discipline, or equivalent with 7 + years experienceor Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline, or equivalent with 10+ years experience,Knowledge of and experience with machine learning and bioinformatic techniques.Experience with high dimensional data analysis derived from Next Generation Sequencing, including some of the following: microbiome data, RNASeq, DNASeq, miRNA, copy number, epigenetics, and single cell sequencingHands-on experience developing and implementing bioinformatic pipelines for Omics datasets.Solid knowledge of Unix/Linux, command line interfaces, and fluency in some common scripting and/or programming language (e.g., R, Python, Perl, Java, C / C++).Familiarity with parallel computing, relational databases (e.g., SQL) and cloud computing or distributed computing (i.e. AWS)Familiarity with Tensorflow/Keras or equivalent deep learning languageTheoretical knowledge of bioinformatics, computational biology; Keeps current with emerging trends in bioinformatics and computational biologyFamiliarity with popular public domain data sources and programmatic interfacesExperience with group and program leadership for assigned programs to help design and direct computational biology activities to meet program objectives; able to provide input on timelines and resource needs as indicatedIn-depth knowledge of currently assigned computational methodsBasic knowledge of science/technology outside specific disciplineStrong scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomicsSupportive of team-based research and able to work effectively in a matrix organizationVACCINATION REQUIREMENTS:Effective November 1, 2021, absent an approved religious or medical reason, all US office-based and lab-based Takeda employees who work fully on-site or in a hybrid model (as determined by Takeda) must be fully vaccinated to work at a Takeda site or to engage with Takeda colleagues or anyone else on behalf of Takeda.
