Our overall goal is to ensure that we get our therapeutics to patients quickly by having the right operational model and integrated clinical data pipeline to support delivery.The Head of Systems and Architecture - is responsible for leading the technical design, implementation and operationalization of an overarching clinical trial data program that includes an integrated data flow with end-to end control of data, is foundationally capable of enabling a high-degree of automation and near-time data access and that can readily incorporate disruptive technologies that enables next-gen trial designs and insights. The data program will encompass all systems, platforms, architecture, and tools involved in the collection, processing, review and analysis of clinical trial patient and operational data, including high-dimensional data such as genomic, digital health and real world data. The data program will be inclusive of all Takeda therapeutic areas and relevant business units. The Trial Systems and Architecture Lead will lead a large, matrixed, business and technical team and ensure linkage to all relevant business and IT functions as well as external partners and vendors.Delivery & Business AccountabilitiesThe Head of Systems and Architecture - is expected to:Lead the clinical trial systems and architecture transformation to support Takeda R&D's vision to create a development engine and ecosystem that provides optimal clinical data control and quality in a predictable, automated & cost-effective wayDrive the transformation towards a global data program incorporating an enterprise data backbone supporting data access and reuse to enable reliable, predictable delivery, and a broad culture of data-driven decision makingLead the evolution of Takeda's infrastructure to meet current and future R&D needs while maintaining appropriate congruency with Takeda's enterprise data strategy and backbone -Oversee the selection and implementation of vendors, systems, platforms, and tools to support a transformed global data program with appropriate governance throughoutShow influential strategic, execution and delivery leadership both within Takeda and outside of Takeda with vendors and partnersProvide strategic vision for long-term delivery innovationCORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE Strategic Planning and ExecutionLeads in setting systems and architecture workstream strategies, goals, priorities, plans and schedules. Aligns with corresponding workstreams and initiatives.Supports executive leadership to achieve the vision and direction for the global data programReports on progress of projects, issues/plans, and critical path schedules to executive leadershipVisibly engages across the organization to ensure transformational impactFiscal ResponsibilityResponsible for system and architecture operating budgets within the global data program; monitor and control expenditures; manages variance between budgeted and actual expenditures of time, dollars, and personnel while meeting overall Takeda financial objectives.Resource and Issue ManagementManages internal and external resources (people, information, technologies, time, andcapital); allocates project resources appropriately to align with business imperatives.Proactively identifies project issues before they arise and develops contingency plans; communicates project-related issues to senior executive management and manages issues to resolution.Change ManagementAs a leader in a large, transformational program, supports strategies for effecting change, controlling change and helping people to adapt to change.Matrix Team ManagementForward thinking with the ability to recommend, influence and implement organizational change and continuous innovationComfortable challenging the status quo and bringing forward innovative solutionsAbility to take risks implementing innovative solutions, accelerating time to marketIdentifies opportunities and anticipates changes in the business landscape through an understanding and ongoing assessment of the environment affecting the business.Role models respect and inclusion, creating a culture that fosters innovationEDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:PhD with 12-15+ years experience -MS with 15-18+ years experiencePrevious experience leading a medium to large organization and influencing senior-level managementProven track record of leading and driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverablesTrack record of successful leadership, management, and development of large, multi-disciplinary teams. Strong judge of talent with the ability to make tough talent decisions.Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industryStrong understanding -of system development lifecycle requirements -and -of US CFR, GCP and ICH -Knowledge of analytical approaches (ex. machine learning, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, visual analytics)Working knowledge of SQL and relational databasesExperience with Hadoop platforms (Cloudera a plus) and related "big data" technologiesExperience working in Cloud Computing environments (ex AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)Absent an approved religious or medical reason, all US office-based and lab-based Takeda employees who work fully on-site or in a hybrid model (as determined by Takeda) must be fully vaccinated to work at a Takeda site or to engage with Takeda colleagues or anyone else on behalf of Takeda.
