Leadership * Provide strategic design and related support to Senior Team Head of Design Footwear * Display awareness and understanding of a Run Train consumer and marketplace * Oversee the creative direction and design execution for Run Train category * Share positive creative energy among stakeholders * Work as a partner with Product Line Management to develop unique and relevant product stories and collection plans * Work with apparel design counterparts at key planning and development stages to ensure cohesive 360 collections Execution * Develop a team approach to create unique and market relevant Footwear Designs (Run Train) that address consumer, retailer, and company goals on a seasonal timeline * Provide market research and design trend analysis supporting theme and design directions * Create color and material stories that is relevant for Run Train consumer * Manage and design color/material strategy for Running, Training, Seasons, Essentials and Viztech * Responsible for seasonal color overview and material trials * Detail specifications through standardized Design Packages * Develop negotiation and consensus approach with development and PLM counterparts to achieve optimum design value, costing, commerciality while advancing category initiatives * Travel for development trips, market research and design initiatives. Management Foster brand concepts through clear communication of brand and seasonal category Creative Direction for Run Train BU. Manage execution and timing of deliverables of category designers (Run Train) * Determine project allocation * Track projects and workload * Develop project and workload reports * Plan design calendar Mentor team personnel towards design excellence * Institute performance reviews, appraisals, and goal setting * Manage staff hiring and redundancy * Promote and nurture positive values in team members * Lead by example Share knowledge and skills. Offer guidance in: * Technical issues * Aesthetic issues * Presentation criteria and expectations * Time and project management * Achieving brief goals and project expectations. * 10+ years of performance and lifestyle footwear design experience, with at least 5 years of experience managing designers * Experience building a creative direction from conception to sell-in * Knowledge of the performance and lifestyle footwear industry * Expert level of color strategy and Run Train material usage * Knowledge of the footwear construction and process * Excellent presentation skills * Knowledge of Run Train key accounts (e.g., Run specialty, Finish Line, and Dick's Sporting Goods, and Tier 2 Family accts) * Mastery of Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office and knowledge of Keyshot for 3D color/material rendering * Experience working in international setting * 25% domestic and international travel
