General Overview
The Senior Career Development Specialist will bring subject matter
expertise and skill to the design, socialize, and implementation of
the Mass General Brigham mobility and succession management process
for leaders and employees across the system. The Senior Consultant
will be instrumental in shaping processes and mapping
implementation and execution to current and future organizational
performance measures.
Reporting to the Director of Mobility and Succession, the Senior
Career Development Specialist will partner with the Director in
stakeholder engagements, relationship management, and communication
campaigns. The ideal candidate can apply knowledge of data
collection and analysis best practices to designing systems for
operations and measurement. This individual will also partner in
implementing and evaluating outcomes for the Job Architecture as
aligned with mobility goals.
Collaboration is central to the Senior Specialist's success. It
will work closely with HR leaders, business partners, and People &
Organizational Development (Learning, Leadership Development, OD
and Engagement and Project Management) colleagues to accomplish the
work within the scope of this function.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Implementation
* Partner with the Director in the design, implementation, and
facilitation of system-wide succession, Top Talent identification,
review, and calibration processes to align with system strategic
priorities.
* Lead the cascading of such efforts into different levels of the
organization, ensuring cohesion and consistency across all
practices and capability of comprehensive reporting and
tracking.
Needs Assessment, Resource Planning and Development
* Lead in the design and development planning of Mobility and
Succession tools and resources to support management practices and
HR business partner support.
* Leads in developing deployment plans, conducting needs
assessments, and identifying resources to roll out Mobility and
Succession management successfully.
Metrics, Data Collection, Analysis
* Lead in the identification of relevant metrics per industry
standards, organizational performance goals, and technological
capability.
* Identify technologies and processes for data collection and
analysis, designing presentation channels for Human Resources
(system) tracking and stakeholder communications.
Subject Matter Expertise
* Provide thought leadership and innovative best practices to
develop interventions that equip departments, managers, and
individuals with solutions for mobility and succession and
matters.
Mobility Process Improvement
* Provide analysis of survey and other feedback channel data to
inform process improvement. Consult with adjacent departments -
especially the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Talent
Acquisition, and Workforce Development - to ensure consistency with
enterprise mobility.
Department Support and Representation
* Provide expertise and consultation resources on mobility and
succession to other members on the P&OD team for professional
development and education on the models, approaches and
outcomes.
* Represent the Mobility and Succession functional team as
necessary on working groups and committees.

Qualifications
* 8 years of relevant experience required
* Master's Degree in field such as business, human resources or
organizational development; or relevant work experience
* Preferred: Healthcare experience or extensive experience working
in a large, matrixed organization
* A combination of education and experience may be substituted for
requirements
Skills, Abilities and Competencies
As a subject matter expert, the Senior Specialist executes on the
Mobility and Succession strategy and will be instrumental in
identifying, defining, and communicating the current state of
internal talent mobility, including critical needs and success
factors for a system-wide model. This will require the Senior
Specialist to be analytical, thoughtful, and informed on industry
innovations to effectively support and communicate the
organizational change necessary for goal attainment. Due to the
various stakeholder audiences and their unique needs and
perspectives, the Senior Consultant will identify their distinct
issues and opportunities with solutions to address them. The Senior
Specialist effectively translates strategy and tactics to achieve
buy-in and support, utilizing evidence-based practices in talent
management, and organizational and leadership development.
In advancing the Mobility and Succession strategy, the Senior
Consultant will engage with leaders and employees at multiple
levels across the organization. Excellent presentation, engagement,
and interpersonal skills are necessary to reach diverse audiences.
The role requires the ability to convey complex, translate relevant
information per stakeholder interests and concerns. As a senior
member of the team, collaboration is a crucial competency integral
to working with adjacent departments and verticals, successfully
negotiating and influencing many types of teams and partnerships to
achieve outcomes and advance work. Through inclusive leadership and
valuing others, the Senior Consultant will model and share insights
on advanced and expert levels of skill and knowledge in mobility
and succession for junior team members.
