Location: CHA Somerville Campus Work Days: 8hr shifts, M-F, occasional weekends Category: Human and Social Services Department: 5 East and 5 West (Child & Adolescent Neurodeveloment)Job Type: Full time Work Shift: Days, 11a-7:30pHours/Week: 40.00 Union: Yes Union Name: SH Laborers 381In partnership with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts we will be expanding inpatient psychiatric care in the region, by adding 42 new child, adolescent and specialized autism spectrum / neurodevelopmental beds at our Somerville Campus. The new CHA Center of Excellence for Child and Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Care at Somerville will provide a transformative continuum of patient and family-centered care for diverse youth with mental health needs.Cambridge Health Alliances inpatient Child and Adolescent Neurodevelopment Unit provides specialist assessment and care for children and adolescents who have severe mental health and neurodevelopmental needs. CHA provides services for children experiencing complex and persistent emotional and behavioral difficulties due to neurodevelopmental disorders. We care for our patients in a newly renovated secured 24-bed unit at the CHA Somerville Campus. Our unit offers private rooms, communal eating and living areas, an outdoor activity space, an active sensory room, quiet calming spaces for both individual and group play and learning.Job Description

The Activities Coordinator contributes to the creation of care plans for patients. Researches, plans, and carries out activity programming that meets the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of patients. Completes activity schedules and supply ordering by established deadlines. Leads a variety of groups based on the social, emotional, spiritual, physical, and cognitive well-being of the patients. Orient new patients to activity programs. Demonstrates ability for creative arts activities. Effectively manages behavioral episodes/conflict among patients. Responsible for the completion and maintenance of appropriate records and documentation. Qualifications/Experience:
High school diploma; BA in related field desirableNationally recognized certification as an activities professional such as Activity Assistant, Activity Director or Recreation Therapist preferred. At least one-year experience working with children and adolescents in a human services/medical/psychiatric setting Experience developing and running therapeutic activities preferredKEYWORDS: Psychiatric / Neurodevelopmental / Autism / Neurology / Inpatient / Diversity / Behavioral / Mental Health / Pediatric
