We foster an inclusive, collaborative workplace, in which our global teams are united by an unwavering commitment to deliver Better Health and a Brighter Future to people around the world.Here, you will be a vital contributor to our inspiring, bold mission.As a Scientist, Structural Characterization, Analytical Development working on the Analytical Development team, you will be empowered to contribute to the structure elucidation of new compounds, impurities and degradants through rapid and efficient characterization of synthetic molecules, peptides, oligonucleotides, and other related chemical entities by chromatography, mass spectrometry and NMR analysis in support of drug development activities.POSITION OBJECTIVES:

  • Participate in activities related to method development, validation, transfer and stability testing for drug substances and drug products using modern analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, MS and NMR.
  • Participate in CMC and cross-functional teams to provide subject matter expertise and facilitate the preparation and review of relevant SOPs, protocols, regulatory filings and other technical reports in support of drug candidate development and regulatory submissions is also expected. -
  • Provide expert knowledge and experience in the application of modern analytical techniques to solving structural problems in pharmaceutical development including, forced degradation for impurity enrichment, preparative isolation, high-resolution MS, 2D NMR, and HPLC, GC, and SFC method development, etc.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
    • Implement novel degradation and characterization approaches to the preparation, isolation and identification of low-level impurities in a drug development environment. -
    • Expert in multiple areas of organic structure elucidation - forced degradation, preparative chromatography, MS, NMR, etc, with the ability to train/mentor departmental colleagues.
    • Understand project timelines and deliverables and plans/coordinates project work accordingly with departmental, functional and external stakeholders
    • Provide technical leadership to project teams within area of expertise and commits resources to execute specific project tasks.
    • Contributes significantly and independently to project work which may include multiple projects within functional area.
    • Review, interpret and communicate data cross-functionally within CMC and project teams. -
    • Plan and implement resolution to technical problems/issues
    • Participate in activities related to method development, validation, transfer and stability testing for drug substances and drug products using modern analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC, SFC, MS and NMR. Supports local and global initiatives which may include leading initiatives or work streams.
    • Serve as a technical resource for junior staff and leverages expertise in laboratory technology as a functional resource/trainer.
    • Independently designs and executes experiments, and reports results
    • Assist with development of project strategy and communicates complex data/decisions within department and cross functionally as necessary
    • Build and maintain relationships with key vendors and assists with technical aspects of vendor negotiations
    • Responsible for integrating scientific/technical efforts around cross-functional issuesEDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
      • Bachelors degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science and 8+ years relevant industry experience
      • Masters degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, engineering or related pharmaceutical science; 6+ years relevant industry experience
      • PhD in analytical chemistry, natural product chemistry, pharmacy, or related pharmaceutical science; 0+ years relevant industry experience
      • Bachelors or Masters: Extensive experience in structural characterization of impurities for active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug products under cGMP's
      • Sound knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
      • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment
      • PhD: Demonstrated mastery of one or more subject areas related to structural characterizationIn accordance with the CO Equal Pay Act, Colorado Applicants Are Not Permitted to Apply.TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
