The Customer Service team within Liberty Mutual's GRM US Finance organization is looking for an innovative and driven Software Engineer to build and modernize our next generation billing systems for our Liberty, Safeco, and State Auto personal lines billing products as we converge upon a single, brand-agnostic billing platform. This team builds the tools that allow policyholders, Agents, and Customer Service representatives to manage their billing account and billing preferences. Using these tools, Customer Service representatives are able to quickly answer questions from Agents and policyholders. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work collaboratively on a diverse agile team to develop and enhance complex systems and/or software from user stories and technical/architectural specifications. You will analyze complex technical system problems and create innovative solutions that exceed customer expectations. You will also help lead our quality engineering practices by developing automated test suits throughout the testing pyramid. This is a fast-paced environment providing rapid delivery for our business partners. In this role you will:Work with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Solutions Engineers, Architects and peers to iteratively create software that meets business and technical requirementsCreate and maintain technical documentationDevelop automated tests (Unit, System, Integration, Regression)QualificationsA Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experienceAt least five years of software engineering experience in Javascript, Java, Vue, React, Springboot, Junit, Jmeter, Selenium, and AWS. Other technologies that are beneficial include: DynamoDB, Kafka, SNS, EC2, S3, Kubernetes.A history of translating client requirements into technical designsAgile engineering capabilities and a design-thinking mindsetCollaboration, adaptability, flexibility and the ability to manage time and prioritize work with a globally distributed development teamStrong oral and written communication skills - and a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers A thorough grasp of IT concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards, shared software concepts and layered solutions and designs Proficiency in software engineering languages and tools, including Java and RESTful services, spanning horizontal and vertical packagesAn understanding of how modifications affect different parts of a system and an ability to explain your decision-making process to non-engineersAt Liberty Mutual, our purpose is to help people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow.
