Description Baldwin & Obenauf, Inc., (BNO), a Central NJ creative
agency with a Healthcare/Pharmaceutical niche, is seeking an
experienced QA specialist/proofreader for review of draft and
print-ready files that are produced in BNO's in-house production
studio. These documents include print and digital format for
promotional and packaging materials.
- Print documents include: brochures, primary and secondary
packaging, IFUs (instruction for use), cartons, tyvek, pouch,
package inserts, patient educational materials.
- Digital documents include: social media posts/ads,
mobile/tablet apps, websites, slide decks.
Much of this work will take place within client compliant work
processes and strict quality control guidelines. At times, the work
will take place within the client's document control or proofing
platform. This is a full-time position located in our Somerville
office,All proofreaders are expected to "own" and take day-to-day
responsibility for their individual proofreading workflow and
schedule. Work flows to the position from project managers.
Teamwork and open communication are vital to ensuring that we are
able to execute on the level of quality and the volume of work
asked of us. The person in this position must communicate with the
wider team to seek assistance in times of heavy volume, escalating
to the department manager if need be. This role is not supervisory
in nature, but good communication and interpersonal skills are
essential to meeting deadlines, keeping the flow of work steady,

- Review documents for accuracy, completeness, and quality
standards. Comparing documents to source materials to ensure
quality; identifying mistakes and/or inconsistencies; using
standard proofreading markups to annotate draft files.
- Review all production documents for page layout and graphic
design standards, such as:
- Page layout, alignment, margins, page numbers, page count,
dimension, missing images or text
- Typography, stylesheet consistently applied, correct font,
defaulted font, superscript/subscript, symbol text
- Graphics/images, correct image, not distorted, scaled
proportionately, not low resolution/rasterized
Print specification which are visible on printed hardcopy (no
requirement to open files or know the production software), review
spec box to see consistent with job specification in work order
- Familiarity with the Adobe Creative Suite is desired and allows
candidate insight to the type of errors to look for. A graphic
designer's eye is also helpful.
- The proofreader must be experienced with standard proofreading
marks, as well as online markup applications
- Adhere to BNO production process, guidelines, and

- On occasion and when instructed on the job ticket, review
documents for standard editorial issues, such as spelling, grammar,
punctuation, and content.
Eligible candidates will live within 60 to 90 minutes' drive time
from our Somerville, NJ office; this position will require you to
work onsite in the office .
Requirements SKILLS - The ideal candidate will have:
- Five+ years' experience required as a quality assurance and/or
proofreader for graphic production files.
- Experience working in a graphic design or print production
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
- High-level understanding of print production and graphic
software packages and the page layout process.
* NOTE: The ability to execute graphics software is not required.
There is no requirement for expertise in color fidelity or color
Skills --- Experience in proofreading/QA of healthcare and
pharmaceutical promotional and packaging materials is strongly
--- Experience in proofreading documents in an online system
(Veeva, DocuShare, etc.)
--- Experience with using Adobe and MS markup tools.
--- Experience with text and graphic modules of Global Vision
software is a plus.
--- Strong knowledge of graphic print production and the
terminology associated with the creation of artwork
--- Understanding of barcode differences and requirements.
--- Proficiency with AMA style guidelines.
--- General knowledge of the ISO/EN/FDA standards around medical
--- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Acrobat.
Mastery of internal agency enterprise system, which contains the
