National Grid is hiring a PE/Team Lead, Gas Construction & Maintenance Engineering for our NE Gas Engineering Design department in Waltham, MA.

Job PurposeNE Gas Engineering Design is responsible for the design of standard and complex gas projects allowing for the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to customers. The PE/Team Lead position is a technical subject matter expert for natural gas system design. Distribution specifically supports the design of main and service replacement, public works, reliability and growth.
Key AccountabilitiesPosition Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Manage a small group of engineers responsible to provide gas engineering and design for distribution projects in New England
  • Establish and lead engineering design project teams to develop and manage all engineering aspects of a project
  • Perform design quality reviews of distribution projects and certify/seal with Professional Engineer stamp
  • Work collaboratively with outside consulting firms and internal stakeholders
  • Prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints
  • Assess project scopes and identify required variances prior to design to ensure a complete, high quality and safe project outcome
  • Support change control procedures as necessary to track design changes instituted by field operations and identify any associated risks that may result
    • ABET accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering discipline required, position aligns closest to mechanical or civil engineering discipline
    • MA PE license or comity required
    • 6+ years of experience in an engineering role required
    • Gas specific design or construction (operations) experience preferred
    • Valid driver's license required
      Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
